Kids Connect, a program designed and implemented by the Junior League of Denver (JLD), educates and nurtures families with children by focusing on early childhood brain development.
JLD volunteers work bi-monthly at two Kids Connect curriculum sites dedicated to:
Educating children together with their parents in an interactive play-based environment, incorporating reading, art and music activities.
Encouraging parents to read with their children at home.
Working with parents to recognize "teaching moments" in real-life situations.
JLD volunteers, placed at Children's Outreach Project and Sheridan Early Childhood Center work with parents and children in reading, art and music while educating participants on the benefits of incorporating these activities to enrich their child's brain development.
Each visit focuses on a favorite children's storybook, which becomes the theme for the reading, art and music activities. Every child receives a copy of the storybook and a take-home bag with suggested activities to further inspire.
