2019 Legislator of the Year

In celebration of the tireless efforts our advocates make for Colorado’s women and children, our Public Policy Council awards an individual whose dedication to public service and outstanding commitment renders paramount. This award is a token of gratitude and recognition of the hard work and support the legislative community has in the advancement of the League’s mission.

The Junior League of Denver Public Policy Council is proud to honor Senator Kevin Priola (R – Adams). Senator Priola’s deep roots in Adams County date back more than 120 years. He is continuing that legacy with a deep commitment to community service and involvement. He has represented the people of Adams County, and many of our members, in the Senate since 2017 after spending eight years in the House of Representatives.

As a League, we advocate for policies that advance the well-being of women and children, particularly those related to childcare and education. When reviewing the bills the council supported this session, one name kept appearing on the co-sponsor list: Senator Priola. He sponsored at least six bills that were on our radar, ranging from various thoughtful education policies to expansion of the school lunch program and creation of a much-needed child care action plan.

We thank Senator Priola for his service and tireless work on behalf of Colorado families. We are excited to continue to work together to improve the lives of Coloradans.
